I have to do something, but I can't do it alone!
Just In: Arrest throws Waller County voter registration dispute into further confusion! Do my eyes deceive me this morning? No, they do not because Waller county is at their antics of voter suppression again. This time, they have arrested Jacob Aronowitz, a field director for the democratic congressional candidate Mike Siegel, this event highlights that there will be a change for the better since we have received some good publicity as a school and the media is highlighting the officials of waller as villains since they refused to prove that they updated the voting status of students.
This news article is why as a political science major, I have to do something about this voter suppression despite I failed to be an effective voter deputy registrar.
It was a hassle for me to get people to register because the address requirement at this school was so confusing. to compound the problem, we have students register to vote and say that they did but they rarely turn out on early voting or election day. If voting was not so important, then this problem would not exist. voter suppression is how biased officials in the United States silence entire communities and demographics. But Waller has a long history of tricks up their sleeve except that this time, a white man who had the heart to help us but faced the brunt of law enforcement. On the other hand, the uproar can work to our advantage to get Waller county to stop denying us as Prairie View Students our suffrage.
